Another Quick 100,000 Points and Miles in 30 days from Travel Rewards Credit Cards
Is it too soon?
Only one of the credit cards from the 1st round of my app run have arrived and I am already looking towards round 2.
I have to prepare my notes, review my score and make sure I am set-up for approvals.
My 2nd round of apps will require twice the spend than the 1st round. I will have to be creative with my spend for sure!
At the risk of stating the obvious the 2nd round will be featuring the CitiBusiness AAdvantage and Chase Sapphire Preferred Cards.
Between the 100k Chase British Airways and 75k ×2 Citi Personal AA cards, this year has been OneWorld alliance heavy.
I apply for the best deals and it just so happens that OneWorld is dominating the market.
The bonus with business cards is they do not pull your personal credit. This will be a half n half app round. The more rest to the weary Experian score the better!
The Chase Sapphire Preferred card and their Ultimate Rewards are the hot kid on the block. They are Ultimate for sure man!
With great transfer ratios to superior partners than what AmEx Membership Rewards has on the board.
Plus if you have the Chase Freedom card, the little sister of the Sapphire Preferred, you get 5% cash back in new bonus categories every 3 months. The rarely bonus’ed Amazon.com is supposed to be on-deck for January. The trigger finger is itchin’ already!
Note: Chase Freedom does not have access to the Ultimate Rewards mall and does not transfer to any program. You need both cards to be able to transfer your Freedom balance into your Sapphire card and from there move on to a Amtrak or United.
The only way Membership Rewards trumps Ultimate Rewards is through the transfer bonus promos they run. I have a feeling UR will catch up to that too.
I am geek’ed up about applying for this card.
Although FTG recently shared an ominous story about a guy he got black listed by Chase for having too many CC’s and erratic spending habits.
I am nowhere near what that guy was doing; 9 cards and low util %. It still serves a cautionary tale. This game is not for the faint of heart.
I will be back tomorow bringing some more tips, tricks and insight!
