When we arrived at the airport there was a police blockade on the Departure’s ramp that redirected our cab to the Arrival’s area. When my girlfriend and I got out of the cab we saw all of American Airline’s Terminal 8, JFK airport, was evacuated. With nobody going in or out of the building, the bull-headed New Yorker that I am, decided we should try to get inside. We had a flight to Montreal to catch, I am so out of NYC!

After we successfully zig-zagged our way through the crowd we entered a completely barren T8. It was not until we were riding the escalator up toward the Departure’s area that we were greeted by two Police officers who politely told us to turn around, take the escalator back down and exit the terminal. Fail. Don’t they know I am leaving for Montreal today? I guess you need a higher elite status, ref. Tom Stuker’s 10 Million Miles, to get ticketed during a security threat.

Fortunately the issue was resolved within an hour and we arrived at our gate 10 minutes before the flight began the boarding process. After all of the drama we arrived in Montreal ahead of the ticketed arrival time. Which was a nice surprise as opposed to the earlier bad surprise of a bomb threat at JFK. This trip is looking up!
