Travel Tech for the Frequent Flyer: HP TouchPad – Miles
I recently decided to start looking for a travel laptop and no sooner had I begun my search then the announcement came that HP was killing its PC line. This presented me with a unique opportunity; grab a brand new 16GB Touchpad Tablet for $99 .
Before this point I had never considered buying a tablet. The idea of using a touchscreen as my primary keyboard full-time was not appealing. Another factor wass the inflated prices compared with better equipped netbooks. Then I saw the $99 fire sale that is just rewards. To be honest all I really needed was an I
n Flight Entertainment and remote work computer. I knew the TouchPad could handle that and more. The hard part was trying to find one.
Websites have crashed, lines were formed and cops were called as the TouchPad frenzy broke out this past weekend. Luckily, for myself, I got in on the Touchpad deal before all the mayhem. I ordered mine from OfficeDepot.com at full retail using my rewards card of course and it arrived yesterday.
I contacted an office depot customer service representative today and they honored a price match at $99 for the 16GB TouchPad.
My policy with tech is to wait. Products become obselote sector and prices will drop 100% in 12 months time. However this was too good a deal to miss.
Stay Tuned. I will be back to update this post with a TouchPad Report once I have gotten some field work out of it while on a rewards flight.
I have to give credit to the deal hawks over on slickdeals.net for the help on getting this TP!
